1 Foreign Correspondence

Recorded and Produced with Don Breithaupt on grand piano and synthesizer and Gary Taylor on various exotic percussion and ambient sounds. This is melodic, piano-based music that drifts between the Jazz, Classical and World music idioms. It has also been released on Fourth Stone Records.

2 Pink Ships

This quartet improvised to written cues and was conducted by Taylor ‘live off the floor’ in the studio and edited and mixed later with fellow Producer Douglas Blais. This deeply, textured music defies categorization. The lineup is Gary Taylor on drums, percussion and keyboards, Kevin Breit on guitars, violin, loops, cassette and harmonica, Pat Perez on saxophones and keyboards, and Tom Griffiths on bass.

3 Soft Electric

Soft Electric is a collaboration between Gary Taylor and keyboard player Ron Reid. This music is melodic and spacious with colorful percussion, layered synthesizers and loops. Guest musicians on this recording include Tom Griffiths and Ian DeSousa on bass, Pat Perez on saxophones, Chris Crossin on flute, Kevin Breit on guitars and Igor Romanyk on violin.

4 Here and Now

This CD, previously titled ‘New Millennium Orchestra’ is a twenty piece improvising ensemble conducted by Gary Taylor. It was recorded in two shifts, the first being video taped and synchronized to track, with the second shift of players playing to video monitors placed in the studio for their cues.
Orchestral, jazzy and ethereal, these sonic landscapes will definitely take you on a journey. Besides the original twenty players, a full choir and additional guest instrumentalists were added to the mix bringing the number of musicians involved in this creation to sixty-one.

5 Scary Elevator Music

A surreal, ambient collage, Scary Elevator Music is a collaboration between keyboardist Norm Brown and Gary Taylor. They raided their studios for any unusual pieces they had and folded them together into this very eccentric music involving tape loops, samplers, piano and percussion. Guest musicians Ron Reid, Jim Hillman and an elevator sequence created by Douglas Blais were added to the final mix. Listen to this one with the lights off.

6 Passenger

Journey to exotic worlds through random composition. Rob Gusevs and Gary Taylor along with their co-producer Douglas Blais, assembled this CD from improvised passages conceived by Gusevs and Taylor using game concepts. From rolling dice to choose chord progressions, to drawing notes and chords out of a hat, they used unusual and daring compositional techniques to build the basic tracks for this recording. Later, along with Doug Blais on guitar and guitar synthesizer, they added solos and embellished each track to give them form and personality.
