Gary Taylor • Photographer

The camera is a great tool for documenting life..it’s immediate, capturing the moment, yet with different films and exposure techniques the results can be very mysterious. I enjoy working with film, as you can push it and it reacts in ways you can’t always predict. In addition I’ve embraced digital photography and have found this to be an amazing experience. It is still thrilling to pick up a new set of contact sheets and be surprised by the results of some experimentation, but I have now found both mediums to be filled with creative potential. As both a visual artist and a musician I live for improvisation. To me that’s what the creative process is all about. I don’t like to plan things out too much and I enjoy working with both natural light and location lighting.

Besides having a real passion for documentary and erotica, I recently took stills for the series ‘Solos’ for Bravo Television and have done advertising and web shots for Taye Music, of Vancouver, B.C. I have had pictures published in ‘Downbeat’, ‘Modern Drummer’, ‘Drums Etc’, Guitar One’, and ‘Drum!’ magazines as well as doing shoots for Dancers, Musicians and Artists in the Toronto area.
